2018 EASCOTE CC INDOOR BOWLS
TOURNAMENT – THE FINALS
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. And
so, after numerous attempts at winning the Mark Fielding Eastcote Indoor Bowls
trophy, Mixed Bag triumphed last Friday! The team founded by the great Faisal
Saleem, captained for many years by Mona finally won the ultimate accolade
under the captaincy of resident osteopath Stephen Chandler, demonstrating that,
given time, he can manipulate anything into place.
In addition to Captain Stephen, Mixed Bag’s Fab Four
included the legendary John Ayres, the nice Mr Mike Chandler and the fiery
left-arm swing bowler Chris Thom. Just like the Fab Four they were last seen
twisting and shouting.
Captain Clive’s Few Good Men who had been unbeaten
until the finals were beaten in what was a nail bitingly close match. Defending
champions, Carpet Burners despite their best efforts fell at the semi-finals
together with the Stunts who are yet to win the tournament. The talented Stunts
have to figure out why they are always the best man and never the bridegroom.
The 2018 Indoor Bowls Tournament turned out to be
yet another enthralling and enjoyable event for all concerned.
The end of the bowls competition marks the beginning
of the cricket season. This is hoping for a glorious cricket season at all
levels. Come on Eastcote!!!
