Match report Last game of the season...friendly..and ended the season on a great note with a win...and a stupendous adult debut (7 fer) by super young leggie Ayaan M Sheikh (45 over home game played to CVL rules)

Eastcote won the toss and elected to bat. Young team: 8 colts including 3 super young. Shashank Kurra continued his excellent progress with a superb 70 (batting at 5 with 12 fours); looked good for a ton but got caught on a full toss. Saavan Shah (36 with 5 fours and 1 six) and Luke Ede (quick 27 with 6 fours) put on 34 fir the first wicket in 4.4 overs; to get us off to a good positive start. The rest faltered until Arvind Joshi (23 with 5 fours) at number 9 took the innings past 200 after Shashank's departure on 180; well supported by youngsters Ayaan and Arav at 9 and 10.

The bowling was a brilliant one man show of superbly revved and flighted leg spin by young prodigy Ayaan M Sheikh (9.3-1-46-7). Coming on as first change in the 12th over he bowled unchanged from the pub end and ran through a full blown competitive adult team who actually had an easy target to chase (207 off 45 overs at around 4.6 runs per over). Shaariq Sheikh opened the bowling (downhill) with quickish seam and aggressive bouncers to,o backed by the steady young Arav Oodit at the other end (uphill) continuing his excellent progress in only his second adult game. Arav came off and Ayaan bowled with his elder sibling for a few overs . Shahshank Kuraa was followed by young off spinner Viney Ras....on his adult debut (got a wicket each) and Saavan Shah bolwed a tight over after.

The day belonged to young Amaan's superb aggressive and bold bowling (not afraid to toss it up and in fact luring batsmen to their doom with more flight if he got hit) and then Shahshank Kurra's mature batting (holding the innings together from 55/3 to 180/7) with a chanceless 70 and a lack of experience denying him a well deserved hundred.

The season ended with the Sunday Ones (excluding the RLOC and MKOC games) etc playing 17 matches (including two mid-week fixtures vs Papplewicjk & Linby and Amsterdam CC): winning 8 and losing 9 (drawing 1 with a dominant performance and near win).... but punching well above their weight in the majority of the games. The real young and next-in-line colts did very well to warm the cockles of ECC's heart. Rohan Dang's unbeaten 100 in his third adult game, Ayaan's 7 wickets on debut, Akhil's Sofat superb show all season..with bat and ball and in the field... and the consistency development of Shahshank Kurra with bat and ball and Sneehan Das with the ball stood out in terms of the new talent developing and coming through.
