Scorecard

Farnham Common v Eastcote CC Saturday 4th Team on Sat 21 Jul 2012 at 1pm
Eastcote CC Won By 226 runs

Match report Eastcote turned up at Farnham Common hoping for glory(and 25 points) which was made a lot easier when Captain James Mans was told he would be facing 9 men, albeit with the chance of the missing 2 players turning up during the game, which did not happen !.

James Mans won the toss and elected to Bat first.

Eastcote openers James Mans and J.S Saleem got to work scoring quickly on a spongy pitch with VERY short boundaries until Saleem was bowled on 33 from a ball angling in then darting off the pitch into the top of off stump. William Bramble joined the skipper at the crease as the two kept things going quite well until Mans also on 33 tried to go over mid off but failed to get enough power behind the drive with the fielder in the end taking an easy catch. George Horsley was next to the crease playing a few good shots and utilizing the short boundaries well. Both Bramble and Horsley were going along well until Bramble was caught and bowled on 16 from a delivery which seemed to get stuck in the pitch then catching a leading edge off of his bat. This brought in Jaz Naeem who with Horsley were trying to steady the innings and build a partnership until Horsley didn’t quite get enough on a straight drive and was caught “superbly” one handed by the fielder at long on, leaving him on 31. This brought Holmes to crease with 30 overs to go with the words “take your time” ringing in his ears from the captain he went about trying to do so BUT this was short lived with him being adjudged LBW on 2(which should have been 1 but since I am typing this I’m going by what the scorebook says). With the scores on 170/5 Phil Smith walked in and join Naeem, Skipper James Mans looking slightly worried on the sidelines but he needn’t be as the two batsmen settled the innings down with a 115 partnership which saw Smith bat with great control 60* and Naeem ending up with 90*. This was Phil's maiden 50 for the club and unlike mr Holmes (once i get my chance ill take it said he !) he took his chance with both hands, Jazz as with most games this season proved a very useful addition to the side, even with his sometime histerical monica seles grunting impression whilst bowling.

Eastcote declared on 285/5 off of 45 overs, leaving a 9 man Farnham Common to chase off of 55 overs.

Jaz Naeem opened up with a wicket maiden which set the tone for the rest of the innings with little resistance shown from Farnham except for the no 2 batsman who tried to hold it together for his team to no avail.
Naeem ending up with figures of 11-4-16-4.
Aaron Phillips also bowled well with figures of 6-2-9-1.
Cameos from Chris Thom and Vikesh Patel also caused problems for the batsmen.
Phil Smith also in the wickets ending up with 2-1-8-3

Another 25 points for Eastcote!
