Eastcote CC colts playing league cricket for other clubs

Eastcote CC colts playing league cricket for other clubs in Middlesex or any other county in the same season.

This has been mentioned many times before, and the stance from Eastcote CC has been clear and never changed, but it appears to still be a grey area for some, so please find clarification below.

As written by the Middlesex League, any colt who is registered to a club in the Middlesex League and has represented that club at least once in any age group, is NOT allowed to play for another club in Middlesex or any other county for that season. This is the official ruling, and any club who has a player that represents two or more clubs in 1 or more leagues will have all points deducted from them that were achieved whilst the player was involved.

Due to non-compliance of this rule by at least 2 of our colts, our U13A side and our U15A side have both been penalised and have both had points deducted. They now have both finished bottom of their leagues and will no longer be able to progress in their competitions. Both teams should have been playing in the final stages of their competitions with a view to reaching the finals, unfortunately this is no longer the case.

This is devastating news for the boys, the coaches and the club, and a situation I honestly never thought I would have to deal with.

As of today (05/08/19), the consequence for any player who represents another club, whilst being a member of Eastcote and to the detriment to Eastcote will have their membership terminated instantly and will no longer be eligible to represent Eastcote CC at any level. I cannot express my disappointment and frustration with this situation with words alone, and will be discussing with Paul Martin as to how we proceed.

I hope this now clarifies the situation, the club’s position and the leagues position. This is a rule that is out of our hands as a club, but one that we must adhere to as we are part of the Middlesex League.

Please do consider the consequences should you decide to allow your children to play for other clubs whilst being members of Eastcote.
