Eastcote CC News story

For all Colts Parents

28 Feb 2017

As the new season will soon be with us, just a welcome email to all parents. If you are a returning parent we look forward to seeing you again. If this is your first season, then welcome to Eastcote Cricket Club. As a colts parent you automatically become a social member of the club so please feel free to use the clubhouse at any time.

We do have parents’ meetings on the following dates, and could one parent from each colt try to attend please. We will be providing details about our coaching and some introductions for the first timers. We will also be telling all parents more about the club and some committee members will be there so you know some of the key faces.

For parents with sons and daughters registered for Friday nights the meeting will be on Friday 31st March at 7.30

For those in squads on other evenings the meeting will be on Thursday 30th March at 8.00pm

If you have children in both groups, please attend either, and if you can not make the actual night, please feel free to come to the other one. There is no need for children to come, but if this makes arrangements easier please bring them along.

Friday night training starts on Friday 14th April at 6.30. We appreciate this is Good Friday so some colts will not be able to attend, but we didn’t want to delay the start any longer because of the late Easter this year. There is no need to tell us if you can’t attend and they will catch up the following week.

Squad parents will receive confirmation of their first night from their manager.

Some of you may have completed the recent Club Survey. Full results from this will be issued shortly. Whilst we were delighted that 91% of members said they would recommend ECC to a friend, there is still some work for the club today in other areas. Members highlighted various points including there could be more cohesion between the playing, colts and social members sections. Also that overall more social events would be welcomed.

We would therefore like to form a small group of parent social reps from the colts sections. Ideally 2 parents from each team and some from the Friday night group. The intention would be to act as a voice for colts’ parents, to try and arrange some social events either for the club or just for a specific team or on Friday nights. Meetings would be in the evenings and would be probably 6 – 8 over a year. We really would like to get some parents involved and if you are interested please reply to this email and confirm either which team your son or daughter is in or if they are in the Friday group.

Volunteers

If you volunteered on the colts’ annual renewal form we will be in contact with you shortly. The club is run by volunteers and the more help we receive, however small, will all help. For the Friday night BBQ last year we had several occasions when parents volunteered and then dropped out or just not turned up. So if you do volunteer could we ask you make every effort to attend or let us know at an early time if this is not possible. We have a volunteer to organise the volunteers and this can also take substantial time. Whatever you volunteered for, we will be in contact shortly. If it is assisting with coaching we will require a DBS check to be completed. We can not accept any volunteers in this role without this. Details will be included in the email, but as it can take some weeks for processing and we can not let you start before this is confirmed, please respond early.

We hope you and your son or daughter will thoroughly enjoy their cricket at Eastcote and hope to see you on the 30th or 31st.
