We were humbled by the fantastic turnout to the club to celebrate Faizal's life. We really appreciate the huge effort that you made to come, some of you travelling so far at such short notice.
We are extremely grateful for the wonderful speeches from his brother Fayaz, his best friend John as well as Clive. They brought back fond memories with such good humour and sentiment. Thank you.
Thank you for your generous donations to Dementia UK, you contributed £150 and £513 towards the orphanage.
Clive put together this heartwarming poem at his celebration of life which was delivered beautifully.
Faizal is all around us
Alive or dead. Young or old. I'll always wear the blue the gold. I'll never leave the game I love, the ball the bat the pad the glove
I'm at the bar or near the case, assessing spin admiring pace
The outfield looks a damn disgrace, the fielders are a waste of space!
Down here I watch in total peace from square leg or the popping crease
You know I'm game if there's a shout. I'm itching to give you out
I slip away as tension mounts. I'm flicking through the club accounts. We're in the black as I read I'm forced to say "I don't believe it"
You may not see me but know I'm here enjoying all the post match beer.
I'll make my point, I never quit
I love the club, I don't bullshit!
Remember me as you grow old, we'll always wear the blue the gold.
The game I love has brought me back. There's nowhere else I'd be
Howzat!!!
We have been overwhelmed by your kind supported love towards Faizal. It was an incredible send off. He loved the club, thank you for making it such a wonderful part of his life.
