For many months we have realised that our nets need a full refurbishment. The 4 lanes are uneven in places so will not always play correctly. In time they may become dangerous. We have obtained quotations to fully relay the lanes, including levelling the bases. The netting will also be replaced as holes are beginning to appear. Finally, the gate opening at the front is considered dangerous as if left open somebody could get hurt outside. This will therefore be moved to the cricket field side of the nets.
We obtained various quotes from ECB approved suppliers and the best was quoted at £39,969. A considerable sum.
I am pleased to confirm that we have received a grant for the full amount of this from the HS2 community and environment fund. This is available to community groups affected by the construction.
The work will therefore be undertaken during the winter months so will be fully ready before the start of the next season.
The club will always look at how we can continue to improve our facilities and this will be a substantial benefit to our senior and junior players.
