Weekly Update

17 Sep 2024

Good morning everyone

Today is a beautiful day, and I hope everyone can enjoy some of it.

Weekends in September have been very social, which is great for the club.  On September 1st we had the Chairman v President match and reunion day, it was a great day catching up with members who have moved away.  The following weekend we had our End of Season Party on the Saturday, followed by the Grenada Hurricane Beryl Appeal, there were two T20 matches, both won by our ECC teams, a fun filled day and we raised money for the appeal.

Our cricket season is now over for this year, and we finished the season on a high, our MDL side won their MDL Finals match against Stoke Newington on Sunday 15th September, congratulations to the team, a great achievement.

Our senior teams finished as follows:  Saturday 1st team were 7th, Saturday 2nd team consolidated their promotion last year by finishing 8th in their new division; Saturday 3rd and 4th teams both finished 3rd.  Our Sunday 1st team were unfortunately relegated, and the Sunday 2nd team will be playing league cricket next season having in general, had a good 2024 season.

Chris is now putting the wickets to bed for the winter,  thank you to Chris  for all the hard work he puts in to accommodate the huge number of matches played, and thank you to David for his assistance.

Before I end, It is time to vote on the Pride of Cricket Awards for 2024, and I am very pleased to announce that our very own Daniel Travers has been nominated in two categories, Media Hero 2024 and the Pride of Cricket Award 2024, I hope as many of you as possible will vote  https://form.jotform.com/242493167188062, you can type this into your search bar or type in Pride of Cricket Awards 2024, click on the title then scroll down to where it asks you to vote for your winners.  Thank you.
