Match report Eastcote 3's did a lot of things right against a stubborn hornsey side but ultimately fell just short. After losing Mansy early Angad and Budgie sought to rebuild on a very wet wicket. Some solid application was shown until Angad had his stumps disturbed. This brought in Siva Kumar who was playing his first league game of the season and on cue he accelerated the innings in partnership with Budge. It was Budge who, by the time a mix up led to him being run out had played fluently for 79 off just 74 balls. After battling early on Budgie got his just rewards with a fine innings. After Frais (20), Randeep (16) and Raj (48) had all departed it was left to the mighty Gav Singh to smoke the hornsey attack to all parts with an explosive 45 of 20 balls. Gav's knock allowed skipper Frais to declare at 45 overs leaving 55 to try and get the 10 wickets for a victory.

Stan and Pepper opened up with Pepper getting his first thanks to a fine low catch from Mansy. After Gav broke the 2nd wicket partnership, JS epitomised what was the best day in the field for the 3's this season with a quick run out. Danny Skilton's aggresive mid-innings burst brought 3 valuable wickets, including 2 super catches from Angad and Danny himself and with that the prospect of 10 points looked more and more likely. At the end of the 31st over Hornsey were 8 wickets down with 24 overs to play out for a draw. The next breakthrough came via Budge with a ridiculous delivery pitching out side leg and hitting off! This was however in the 52nd over after Wood and Simon had batted with a forward defensive and little else whilst a few extremely debatable umpiring decisions contributed further to Eastcote's anxiety. Unfortunately neither Angad or Budge were able to nip out the last wicket and 4 points was the undeserved outcome. Despite the dissapointment the 3's will enter the key Ealing fixture with renewed optimism after a much improved performance.
