Match report Eastcote 4s suffered their first defeat of the season against an compact Burnham team. Playing away at the attractive Burnham ground Eastcote went into the game with 6 under 15s and one u17 which was a great sight and the lads performed very well although they did not score enough runs to put the opposition under more pressure. Losing the toss and batting first (for the first time) eastcote made a good start putting on 62 for the first wicket. Aman Lotay and Sachin Wijetratne looking really good and comfortable. Unfortunately Aman was caught pulling and was soon followed by Shahen Wijeratne who appeared to play round a straight one? Eastcote then lost Adam Harding (promoted up the order) and the impressive Sachin Wijeratne to leave the score on 80 for 4 off 20.5 overs. new boy Randeep Sanghera batted really well but lost both Danny Skilton and Kishen Radia while at the crease - 124 for 6 off 29.3. Vikesh patel joined Randeep and batted well but Randeep over reached and was caught in the covers for 40 (well batted). Skipper Geoff Roan joined Vikesh but could not play the needed captain's innings. Vikesh was run out in a particular fashion but batted well for his 16 and the last pair of Aaron Phillips 16 not out and veteran Peter Millward 1 added another 25 for the last wicket before Peter was out the score 184 all out.
This left Burnham 56 overs to get the 185 required. Eastcote had to take wickets to put Burnham under pressure. Both R.sanghera and D.Skilton bowled quick and had the oppoposition playing and missing. Randeep got a wicket in his second over (11 for 1)and then again in his 5th over 27 for 2 off 9.5. eastcote then lost their momentum when the opening bat and No4 batted sensibly. the introduction of spin gave eastcote hope with P.Millward taking the wicket of the No 4 bowling him with one that floated in - 92 for 3 off 20.4. The task was tough but do able and eastcote picked up the 4th wicket when Aman lotay bowled the No 5 107 for 4 off 24. This left Burnham 78 to get with 6 wickets left but plenty of overs. Danny Skilton came back into the attack and got the important wicket of the opener (66) bowling him off his pads with a quick ball. 129 for 5 off 30.1. A.Lotay picked up the 6th wicket with the score on 141 for 6 and the Eastcote win was on!! However the two Burnham batsman stood firm and batted well to steer their side home.
