Match report A thrilling match to start off the league campaign. Our visitors won the toss and elected to bat first and were soon in trouble at 22-3 thanks to some fine early bowling from the ever miserly Aashish and the pace of Jehan. Progress was slow and after 13 overs the score had only moved on to 59. Then a combination of good batting, wayward bowling and poor catching let our visitors off the hook, with the last 7 overs yielding a staggering 88 runs.
Our target was thus 148 and we started our reply steadily, not losing our first wicket until the score had reached 82. Hassaan was then joined by 'Gorgeous George' and the strike rate increased and the innings gathered momentum. 41 were required off the last 5 overs and, wishing to keep the crowd entertained, we waited until the last ball of the innings to hit the winning boundary. It was fitting that Hassaan hit the winnings runs as his 84 not out was claerly the major contribution of the day - well done Hass !
