Match report On a cold and gloomy evening the U17s put in a professional performance to complete the double over league leaders Bessborough, the only blemish being dropped catches. We entered the game with a very strong side, the only absentee being Hassaan, the victim of a broken thumb, courtesy of ECC nets !
Toss duly won we invited our hosts to have first use of a rain affected surface and it soon became clear that runs would be hard to come by. Ash bowled in his usual miserly manner, finishing with 2-12 off his 4 overs and at one stage it looked like we would restrict Bessborough to less than 100. However, some late hitting, assisted by some dropped catches allowed them to post 117.
Our response started well but early on our skipper had to retire, feeling unwell. No matter Vinay came in to join newcomer Randeep and between them they almost saw us home before Vinay fell to a good catch in the deep for an impressive 32. Hamzah then returned to the fray with Randeep hitting an impressive 48 to steer us to a nine wicket victory. Next up Uxbridge, weather permitting.
