Match report Our penultimate league game of the season saw Ickenham visit 'The Dome' in a top of the table clash, with only 5 points separating the two teams. With rain and thunder predicted we were keen to get the match finished and having won the toss our skipper disregarded the forecast and chose to bat! That new gangster haircut must have affected his brain!
We got off to a whirlwind start with Vinay smashing the ball to all parts before falling victim to a miraculous catch in the deep. Enter the skipper - 6,6,out - that haircut again! With Randeep and George departing without troubling the scorers a great deal it was left to our Umar Gul lookalike, Rushil to assist the returning Hassaan in posting a below par 120-6 off our 20 overs. At least 50 short of where we should have been, bearing in mind we were at 80 off 10.
So we needed a good performance in the field and this was exactly what we got, with both the bowling and fielding showing a marked improvement on previous weeks. All the bowlers proved miserly, with Jehan back to something approaching his best. Even 'Umar' got a wicket and caught by Ash - that poor batter must be the unluckiest man on this planet, apart from Vinay that is! 53 all out and a comfortable 67 run win. One more victory and the league title will be ours.
