Match report Eastcote won the toss and elected to bat full of confidence after bowling teams out for less than 100 for 5 weeks on the trot but this was not to be with Eastcote ending with a winning draw in a game that saw the track as the overall winner with 600 runs being scored and only 5 wickets being taken.

Skipper James Mans and Budge took to the wicket and both played extremely well putting on 198 for the first wicket partnership which was ended by Budge being bowled on 79. Tony Norris was next to join the skipper who was going along nicely. Norris and Mans both going along well until Mans’ top knock of 162 was ended going for the big shot over mid on. Jaz Naeem was next in with Norris with both batsmen playing some lovely shots. Both batsmen ending not out with Norris on 46 and Naeem on 24. Eastcote in the end declared on 320 from 40 overs leaving 60 overs for the bowlers to get into the OMT batsmen.

Eastcote fielding for 60 overs came as a bit of shock to a team used to getting games finish before tea but this is what happened with the OMT’s opening batsmen putting on 199 for the first wicket until a nice juicy full toss from Chris Wilkins caused the no 2 batsman to go for the big shot and ending up putting the ball down Phil Smith’s throat! This brought in the no 3 batsman who looked as if he would play some shots but in the end falling victim to a ball from Jaz Naeem which took the inside edge and was taken smartly by Adam “Prior” Holmes behind the stumps.

Although in the end 60 overs was not enough to bowl OMT’s out with Skipper Mans in the end using 7 bowlers to no avail with OMT ending up on 276/3.

Eastcote will look to bounce back with a win against Boyne Hill next Saturday after being pushed off of the top spot by Hillingdon Manor this weekend.
