Eastcote under 13s completed a fine Cup campaign by trouncing West Harrow by 105 runs in the final to clinch the North Area Cup.

A torrential downpour 10 minutes before play almost called proceedings to a halt, but having benefited from a spell of dry weather, the ground was able to soak up the water and play was able to commence without the loss of any overs.

Eastcote playing at home for the first time this season, won the toss and chose to bat first. Both sides were impacted by late arrival of players and an adjusted batting line up saw Rahul Wijeratne and Hemanshu Hirani open the batting for Eastcote. Eastcote suffered a double set back in the second over when Hemanshu was caught in the covers for 9 and then in the very next ball Jamie Cohen promoted to number 3 following his fine performance against Ickenham the previous day, ran himself out on nought with the score on 14 attempting a single having driven the ball straight to the cover fielder.

A partnership between Ashane Wijesuriya (14 ) and Rahul (32 retired) then took the score onto 52 with both batsmen picking off the bowling at ease. West Harrow were found wanting with their change bowlers and Eastcote took full advantage with Aaran Amin in destructive mood scoring a fine 32 off 12 balls followed by George Wickham 32 retired and Jonathan Barry 20.
A flurry of wickets then saw Eastcote bowled out for 157 in 18 overs when earlier 200 had looked achievable.

West Harrow were immediately pegged back in their chase through a fine spell of seam bowling from Hemanshu Hirani (left arm seam) (2 for 7) and Omar Mohamed (right arm seam) (1 for 3) reducing West Harrow to 7 for 3 after 3 overs from which they failed to recover despite opening batsmen S. Sajjia holding up one end and scoring 30 runs. Alfie Fuller, left arm spin, then claimed 2 wickets and JB (right arm seam) cleaned up the lower order with 4 wickets to his name having taken three wickets in his first over ending with figures of 1.2 – 1 – 1 – 4. Good fielding and catching also contributed to several of the dismissals and West Harrow were eventually bowled out for 53 in 11.2 overs to complete a fine win.
