Match report A 25 over friendly match played on a beautiful, warm sunny Sunday evening. 10 man Stoke Newington won the toss and decided to bat first.

Eastcote started steadily with Conrad again bowling well and Divyam bowling 3 maidens with a wicket. After 11 overs, just 44 runs had been conceded with 2 wickets down. The following 14 overs went for 111 runs with some very poor fielding in places. The boys need to work on maintaining their concentration throughout an innings. Noah was outstanding with an excellent 45 off 35 balls in a total of 175 for 5 in their 25 overs.

Aidan and Saavan opened with a superb partnership of 58. Their calling and running was excellent. Aidan was out in the 9th over for a brilliant 33, and was soon followed by Tom and Nikhil. Shivam batted well with Saavan, who retired having scored his maiden half-century. His flawless 50 was scored off 40 balls. Having broken his bat in the nets, Dan came to the wicket with a bat borrowed (or rented?) from Tom. This bat is having an outstanding season, and in Dan's hands it was lethal. He batted beautifully with an unbeaten 57, another maiden half-century, to take Eastcote past the required total. His innings included 11 fours and was scored off just 35 balls. The bat was begrudgingly returned to Tom at the end! Shivam ended on a very patient 14 not out.

Umpire Dipen commented on what great sportsmanship Stoke Newington showed in the field, particularly captain Ishaq who is a credit to his club. Many thanks to Izaac and the other parents for making the long journey to Eastcote. We really hope we play a return fixture some time this summer.
