Match report This was the first match for our Friday Night Academy Side and I have to say I am so impressed with the way all the players conducted themselves and the effort they gave. We were up against a far more experienced MTSSC side who had some good players, but our spirits were high and at times our cricket matched our opposition! We bowled first with Eva and Yash G taking the new ball, and they both bowled deliveries that made it very hard for the batsmen to score. Arnav and Ria then took over and continued to bowl attacking deliveries and that was to be the form for all of the bowlers. We did occasionally stray with our line but that is to be expected, but we never allowed a wide or two to dampen our spirits. An amazing catch from Ariv was a champagne moment, a solid performance from captain Leighton behind the stumps secured a stumping and run out, and some slick ground fielding from Yash K kept the batters on their toes. We restricted MTSSC to 111 off 16 overs which was great effort. Our efforts with the bat were not quite as successful as with the ball, but the spirit was there in abundance. Reece and Ariv showed themselves to be quite an attacking pair with some clean strikes, Arjun played with caution and sense, Leighton batted beautifully, Siraj and Krish showed great potential, Ria, Arnav, and Eva looked like they had been batting all winter with some precise movements, and Yash & Yash finished the innings with some exciting stroke play and running. All in all, it was a fantastic evening and a pleasure to be part of. If all of the games for the U11B are like this it will be an enjoyable season. Well done!!!!
