Eastcote CC Won by 45 runs with 13.1 overs to spare

Match report From Director of Cricket Marc Broom: Sunday saw the ever faithful Mr Joshi lead his troops into battle against Acton Town CC. As always, Mr Joshi's side was a mix of young and old ranging from 12 years old to a lot older (politically correct)!. The match ended up being dominated by even more of our Young Guns with runs and wickets, but the highlight was watching the Sheikh boys, Ayaan (12) and Shaariq (15), clean up the Acton Town order
by taking ALL 10 wickets between them. An outstanding effort. That said, Jay Madan's knock of 65 was superb to watch, Goerge Harvey was an absolute dynamo in the field as usual and bowled well and Charlie Daragon opened the batting with aggression.

Mr Joshi's report is below. Normally the report from Mr Joshi is extensive to say the least, full of facts, figures & funny anecdotes etc, but this one is short and sweet, a little bit like Will Dunn's inning last week!

Eastcote CC Sunday 1st team V Acton Town CC . Sunday friendly report: U13s superb. I had Jay Madan (13) Ayaan Sheikh (12) and George Harvey (12). Jay Madan hit a superb unbeaten 65 and batted for a shade over 30 overs at 3.
Shaariq hit a brilliant 60 and guided Jay well and gently helped him push the score along in a brilliant stand after 2 quick needless runouts . We got to 245 off 40 for 6 down. Then Acton were going strong with an ex Pakistan junior skipper and another decent opener...until Ayaan came on as first change (like last game last year) and continued from his last game. Got the first 5 wickets and then the 7th including their 3 best batsmen....with figures of 8.1.55.6...best. Set his fields, bought the wicket of their best bat like Bedi vs Barry Richards.. The oppo were Sat Twos Threes mostly so top performance. Shaariq got 4 wickets and the siblings were joint MOMs...closely followed by Jay. George Harvey bowled well bar one over, as he always does. He didn't get a bat but superb in the field. Jafar a shade disappointing by his standards. Charlie Daragon opened the batting superbly unlucky out to full toss after a brisk 25. Senior players yours truly, Joe Daver and Sanjeev Sadh who all turned up but nothing much to report. JS batted well as foundation opener until 20 overs or so for 28. JS brilliant in field and whilst batting keeping spirts up.

ADDITIONAL REPORT:

Our season opener was vs my old club Acton CC and it was very satisfying to watch a spin bowling masterclass (8-1-55-6) from young u-12 Ayaan Sheikh take us to a super win when Acton seemed to be running away with the chase. Acton went from 76 for no loss (chasing 245), to 200 all out. Elder brother Shaariq bowling seam and spin took the other 4 wickets. Earlier u-13 Jay Madan’s 65 not out (at one drop) and Shaariq’s middle order 60 saved our blushes. That set the tone for our young colts to shine.
