Match report The next game was Millwall Stars and we had no Rashard and a young team with the likes of Jay Madan, Aaryan Sawant and Rohan Shah. 6 u-13s/u-12s turned out and didn’t wilt in the sun to keep Millwall Stars (a strong adult Asian outfit) down to 260/8 (45 overs). Aaryan Sawant 9-0-38-1 and Jay Madan 3-0-19-1 bowled miserly at the death to keep the target manageable. Shubh Malde 9-0-52-2 and GSG 8-0-55-3 chipped in with a good all-round bowling display in humid heat on a track which looked like concrete. We were wary since we only had Tom Huddo and GSG as our capable in-form adult batters but we needn’t have worried. Tom Hudson opened and hit 110; first kept company by u-13 Jay Madan and then by u-12 Aditya Bhandarkar. When the kids were gone we were a healthy 116/2 off just 16 overs; needing 145 more to win off 29 more overs. GSG strode in and hit a superb 85 not out. He lost Huddo at 182 but Aaryan Sawant strode in with his collar turned up and a panama hat perched on his head, to first settle in patiently and let GSG make the play; and then finish the issue with 2 fours off the last 3 balls (both bullets). What a win with a team of just 3 adults and 8 colts.
