Eastcote CC Lost By 3 wickets (with 8.2 overs to spare)

Match report 18 August saw a wash-out vs Regals so we went onto August 25 and welcomed a decent Knotty Green CC to the travails of the hill. Joban won the toss and put ourselves in. Joe Wilcox fulfilled his childhood potential of being a gun opening bat, cracking a solid 31 before getting out selflessly to give the others a go. Young Purab Garg fell for 4 without disturbing or disarming his smile. Vikesh Patel showed what Minesh’s coaching can do at home by smashing a sparkling 53 at one-drop and Joban’s colleague who sported the unique name of Bobby (and volunteered to help out) hit 39. He is eager to join the club, which bodes well for Joban or does it? Our umpteenth Krish got Thakrared for just 8 and Captain Joban was =unselfish again (getting out on 13). Shubh Malde showed his quality with a decent 17 but the rest dithered to a dead stop on 204 (all out in 38.1 overs). This score was unlikely to tie the opponents into knots but Knotty Green did their best, laboring uphill like an ageing steam engine to 205/7 (albeit with 8 overs to go). Reece Jones 8-1-33-2 bowled a super seam spell with the new ball (and seemed to have recovered fully from his leg injury). Krish Thakrar kept wicket well in Reece’s absence from behind the sticks. Riyan Lakhani opened the attack as Joban threw a leggie the new ball but went for 42 off 5 (although he got an early wicket like Reece). The rest of it was a predictably boring slow death affair as Shubh, Netanel and Bobby got a wicket each and Reece picked his second whilst watching Knotty Green make green of the target.
